Cowboy and I left WPB to head to Johnny Rose and his
Ol' Lady Wildcat's house Saturday morning. Wildcat's Dad was
was also there visiting from North Carolina. We were heading down to Davie to see
JR's band "BrokeDown" play 2 gigs over the weekend. The first one
was the "Be Kind to Animals Rescue Concert"
in Hollywood, Fl Saturday night. The second one was the "6th Annual
Greynolds Park Love In" in North Miami, Fl Sunday afternoon. We took a side trip out to Okeechobee and then down to Hwy 27 to Davie. All was fine until we got to 27 and then the wind picked up and even thou we were doing the speed limit of 65 it felt like we were doing a 100. We bucked the wind all the way to Davie. We got to Davie that afternoon and sat around relaxed and bullshitted for a few hours. We got to Hollywood around 5pm or so. It was a real pain finding a place to park. We were pretty much the only Biker's there at that time and all were looking at the bikes. A couple of cute kids stopped and was looking so we let them get on them and took their pictures. They had a good time I believe. JR's band didn't start playing until 9pm so were hung around while all our Abate and other club friends showed up. There was 3 other bands playing the concert that day Jr's was the last. Everyone we expected showed up and all was hungry so we headed down the boardwalk to "Nick's". Of course we all had a beer or coke with us. We all place our order but after about 20 minutes we were wondering where our food was. About that time this guy who couldn't speak English came out and started complaining about the beer we had. So everyone one that had beer left the table and went and sat on the wall away from "Nicks". 10 minutes later the non speaking English person came back telling us they were NOT GOING TO SERVE US because of the beer we had brought. We would have ordered drinks there but he told us we had to leave because they WERE NOT GOING TO SERVE US. Personally I don't believe that was reason, I believe they didn't like 10 or so Bikers there at their establishment. We left peaceably as we didn't want to cause JR's band any trouble. They lost at least $100 and a good tip. So I say BIKER's BEWARE of NICKS! Eat someway else. BrokeDown finally went on and I have to say they were HOT. Hardly anyone danced to the music of the 4 other bands but they sure did with BrokeDown. They had the crowd cranked. They put on a great show and I have to tell you that BrokeDown didn't get paid for for this gig it was free for BeKindtoAnimalsRescue.com, if you are looking for a pet or can give a donation that is the place. Check out all the pictures the SuzieQ, Cowboy and I took:
After the concert some of us rode over to Cagney's to have a drink before going home. We met up with a bunch of other Biker's there so one drink led to another of course another. Billy the Kid from the Mystic 7 MC showed up and then the party began. If you don't know Billy then one day you may if you live in South Florida. If your bike ever takes a dump on you, Billy's the one to call, he owns and operates BTK Transportation Corp. If you ever need to be towed then give Billy a call he will never let you down and specializes in bikes: 754-246-3568. A couple of US Military Vets that I had met at a Der Krieger party was there so even thou Cowboy and I are from the WPB area we felt at home. Had a great time at Cagney's and of course some of the chicks showed us there stuff! Check out the pics: Cowboy, Johnny Rose and I started out Sunday morning for the LoveIn Concert at 9:30am and of course before we got to Miami we caught some rain but not enough to stop us. We pulled in again to find we were just about the only Bikers there. As the day progressed more did arrive. I personally expected to see Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels out talking to some of the band members that were opening for them but to my surprise they never sat foot outside their trailer all day so from 10:30 am to about 4:30pm when I left we never saw them at all. Lots of Ol' Hippy's were there and we all enjoyed watching and talking to them. The bands opening for Mitch Ryder were Miami Rock Ensemble, BrokeDown, Rewind and Blackstar. BrokeDown was the second band to play and I have to say I've never head them better. They even did one of their original songs they had been working on. The 60's music they chose to do was perfect for the occasion and got everyone there rockin. In my humble opinion they were the outstanding band of the day and I'm not just saying that because I'm friends with all of them and Johnny Rose is my bro, its because they are just DAMN good at what they play. BrokeDown's members are Rudy the lead guitar and singer, Johnny Rose on the Bass guitar, George on rhythm guitar, Ray on keyboard, and on drums is Johnny E, and Scotty sat in on a couple of songs. Here's the pictures of the LoveIn that I took:
Cowboy gave me a copy of his pictures here they are:
**All the slideshows will
open in a new window and may take a few seconds to load. It was a great weekend for Cowboy and myself and we both want to thank Johnny and Wildcat for putting us up at their house for the weekend. It was also good to meet Wildcat's Dad. He's okay in our book. Plus we know he had a good time as he got to see lots of "Titties and Nipples" over the weekend.
We'll be heading down again on May 23rd 2009
for the Abate Memorial Day Run at Cafe 27 - 954-659-9957.
This event is on Sunday the 24th, a great way to spend
Memorial Day. Till my next trip Cy'all, Biker |
