Easyriders has always been known for
putting on one of the classiest Bike Shows around and this year was
no exception. Although it was cold and nasty out side Charlotte's
Convention Center in Charlotte N.C. January 22nd & 23rd things were
heating up inside as Easyriders annual V-Twin Bike Show was under
way. This years event brought some of the greatest bike builders
around, Dave Perewitz, Paul Yaffe, Eddie Trotta, Billy Lane, Chica
and many more all competing for top honors. Although Indian Larry is
no longer with us he was there in spirit as his memory and creations
will live on forever. Once again the Purrfect Angelz teased and
entertained the crowed, along with great music from Blackberry
Smoke.
I had the pleasure of meeting Billy Lane and talking with him at
this years event. For those of you who might not know who Billy Lane
is or have only heard the name, he is best recognized from his
appearances on the Discovery Channel Bikers Build-Off as well as
numerous Motorcycle Magazines
Billy started making custom bike parts for his friends such as his
Six Gun handlebar riser claps, Six Gun foot pegs and Loaded Dice
shift knobs just to name a few of his creations. A demand for his
Six Gun parts grew which lead to Choppers Inc. in 1998. He now holds
U.S. patents on many custom bike parts he has created. He builds a
few custom bikes a year leaving him time to create new custom parts.
Billy's notoriety grew after appearing on Monster Garage with Jesse
James Soon after he was asked to appear in the first installment of
the Discovery Channel Bikers Build-Off where Billy competed against
Roger Bourget In the second installment he went up against Dave
Perewitz and Indian Larry in the third. You can see Billy square off
against Mike Brown in the up coming Bikers Build-Off on the
Discovery Channel March 8th 2005. As his life continues to pick up
momentum his popularity grows to new levels. Whether Billy is
building sexy bikes, custom parts, appearing on TV and in magazines
to writing a book about his life he still remains grounded, and
humble. To learn more about Billy Lane and Choppers Inc. visit
